Manitoba Public Insurance has over 500 shops participating in a program to help flatten the COVID-19 curve. Media relations coordinator Brian Smiley outlines what they're doing.

"This is a new program implemented by Manitoba Public Insurance in direct response to the COVID-19 pandemic," says Smiley. "Vehicles coming in for repair will be cleaned pre-repair and post-repair at the shops to ensure when the vehicle is returned to the customer, safety is ensured."

MPI will be giving participating shops a special allowance and their CEO Ben Graham adds it's the right thing to do.

Smiley talks about what specific measures they will be taking.

"They'll be looking at a number of surfaces that will be cleaned and sanitized," says Smiley. "Exterior door handles, interior door handles, interior door trims, consoles, steering wheels, seat belt buckles, and hood latch and releases."

MPI will be continuing to do its best to help maintain the COVID-19 situation.
