The Manitoba First Nations Police Service responded to a call on April 17 at approximately 5:30 in the Keeshkeemaquah area.

Inspector Dave Scott has the details.

"Officers were responding to a call from the RCMP dispatch, who advised that a male was seen riding through the Keeshkeemaquah urban area on a bike and was in possession of a firearm."

Officers in the area, along with the Portage la Prairie RCMP, patrolled the area and located the suspect who was then arrested and taken into custody.

"The suspect was found to be intoxicated at the time," says Scott. "After examining the firearm, which looked like an authentic firearm, it turned out to be a BB gun."

The 21-year-old man, from Dakota Tipi First Nation, was charged with failing to comply with release orders. He was lodged until sober.
