The Manitoba First Nations Police Service made two arrests last week in separate incidents.

On May 30, officers from the Long Plain detachment executed a Controlled Drugs & Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant in the 100 block of Dakota Trail located in Long Plain First Nation (LPFN).

Officers located:

  • 1.54 grams of cocaine (crack)
  • 3.56 grams of cocaine (powder)
  • $554 Canadian currency

34-year-old, Marcel Peters of LPFN was arrested and charged with:

  • CDSA 5(1) Traffick cocaine
  • CDSA 5(2) Possess cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possess proceeds obtained by crime under $5,000.

Peters was detained into custody for a court appearance in Portage La Prairie Provincial Court on May 31, 2024.

MFNPS encourages anyone that suspects illegal activity, such as drug trafficking, or illegal firearms to contact their local police detachment.

The same day, at approximately 9:30 a.m., officers received a disturbance complaint at a residence in the 300 block of Yellowquill Trail in LPFN.

Upon arrival, the officer interacted with the man causing the disturbance at which time he became uncooperative, brandished a firearm and threatened to kill the officer. The officer reacted by unholstering their firearm and provided verbal direction to the man, and he eventually complied.

He was arrested without further incident.

48-year-old, Timothy Myran was arrested and charged with:

  • Utter threats x2.
  • Possess weapon.
  • Use of firearm in the commission of an offence.
  • Common nuisance.
  • Assault peace officer.

Myran was detained into custody for a court appearance in Portage La Prairie Provincial Court on May 31.
