The Tupper Street Family Resource Centre was the latest recipient of a Portage MCC Thrift Shop Day donation.

The centre was chosen by the MCC to receive a $3,000 cheque in exchange for helping out at the store on October 1st.

Executive Director Elaine McPhee says this will help them with some upcoming events.

"We have our Halloween party, we have our Christmas [party] coming, so it's always something to look forward to and it's great for the children," says McPhee. "We don't have a place for our party yet. Our building's not completed yet. [The funds] will be for supplies and treats for the kids."

She says they had fun meeting with customers!

"We helped stock shelves, helped with the cash registers, and bagging," says McPhee. "[MCC] is a great place and it was very busy today!"

MCC has also helped groups like the Prairie Pregnancy Centre (August 27th) and the First Presbyterian Church Soup Kitchen (July 30th). October 1st was the final MCC Day for the year.
