With the dust settling on this year's 44th Federal Election, Dauphin, Swan River, Neepawa incumbent Dan Mazier is glad to be re-elected.

The Conservative candidate garnered 59 per cent of the votes, while the NDP's Arthur Holroyd came in second with just shy of 15 per cent of votes. Mazier says it feels great to be re-elected.

"Thanks to the constituents of Dauphin, Swan River, Neepawa for sending me back to Ottawa on their behalf and making sure their rural voices are heard in Ottawa again," says Mazier. "I think that's one of the biggest lessons we've learned with this Trudeau Liberal government is they've forgotten about rural Canada. I want to make sure that that voice is heard loud and clear upon return."

Previous to politics, Mazier served as the President of the Keystone Agriculture Producers before leaping into parliament. He notes it's been a very humbling experience.

"This is the second time in two years I've run a campaign. When I'm out knocking on doors. (It's humbling) talking to people and listening to their concerns," says Maizer. "The work I put into the job is very much appreciated as far as the kind words and the support that I hear from many constituents encouraging me to keep on representing them and doing my work in Ottawa for them."

One area Mazier hopes to improve is the quality of internet connectivity and cell phone service within his riding and the province. Mazier says the result of this election isn't one he hoped for.

"The voter is always right at the end. I think Canadians sent a clear signal to go clean up your mess, Justin Trudeau," he says. "I guess they've got back to their minority government. It's certainly too bad. I know we, the Conservative Government, could have got this country turned back on track a lot sooner."
