An off duty RCMP officer got an unpleasant surprise on Thursday.

According to Police, on May 25th, at 3:20 p.m, an off-duty RCMP officer in the community of Little Grand Rapids was out for a jog when a man approached the officer, spat on the officer, and threatened to throw a bicycle at the officer. The officer, being off-duty, did not enter into a confrontation with the male, but met with the local Band Constable to report it.

On-duty RCMP officers, along with the Band Constable, located Barry Duck, 43, and told him he was under arrest for assaulting a police officer. Duck resisted, but was taken into custody without incident.

Duck has been released on a Release Order.

The officer was not physically injured during the incident.
