Farmers and the general public are being encouraged to report all sightings of wild pigs.

Jenelle Hamblin is the Manager of Swine Health Programs with Manitoba Pork.

"Manitoba Pork certainly is concerned about the role that they play as a disease factor to our commercial and backyard swine producers," she said. "Our commercial operators, the risk is lower, being that they are housed indoors and the potential for interaction is smaller. However, the interaction potentially with wild pigs on a site is still there and any small-scale producers that have their animals housed outside, the potential for interaction with wild pigs is much higher."

Any wild pig sightings can be reported to Manitoba Sustainable Development or by emailing wildlife@gov.mb.ca.
