Education Minister Cliff Cullen has announced their list of approved applications to their Teachers' Idea Fund, and the Portage la Prairie School Division has a few positive changes coming its way.

The 53 recommended applications will see nearly $1.4 million go toward funding ideas from teachers, staff, and other school leaders. Of the approved applications, six will be aimed at improving the Portage School Division.

"We launched the five-year fund in March, and we have already provided funding for 27 innovative ideas," explains Cullen. "It is gratifying that this program has inspired more great ideas from teachers, staff and school leaders to enhance classroom supports and improve student outcomes and well-being, and we are happy to provide funding for an additional 53 projects."

Educators are encouraged to apply for the fund, as long as the timeframe of the project is between two and five years, and the requested budget annually is $25,000-$150,000

"The $25 million fund is a priority action of the Better Education Starts Today strategy," says Cullen. "This fund will support projects based on the themes of targeted learning supports, models of teaching and learning, mental health and well-being, transitions in K-12 education, and family and parent engagement."
