Update: Man located safe after going missing during Winnipeg-to-Thompson bus trip

Thompson RCMP were asking for the public’s help as they continued searching for a 24-year-old man who went missing while travelling back to northern Manitoba.

Police report Shane Wood was reported missing on February 2, 2026. Wood boarded a bus in Winnipeg on February 1 with plans to return to his residence in Thompson but did not arrive as expected.

Investigators say Wood was last seen on the bus in Grand Rapids at approximately 5:00 a.m. on February 2. After that stop, it remained unknown where he may have disembarked, prompting concern and an expanded search effort.

RCMP say officers have conducted patrols in several surrounding areas since the report was received. Despite those efforts, Wood has not been located.

Police indicated they were concerned for his safety and continued to follow up on leads as they work to determine his movements after the bus stop in Grand Rapids.

Shane Wood was described as approximately 5’8” tall, weighing about 130 pounds, with short black hair. He was last seen wearing a black and grey camo-style jacket and white sweatpants.
