It was a full house at the Normac Centre in MacGregor Monday, as they hosted their Louis Riel Day Festivities. Heartland Recreation Commission Recreation Director Karla Gurke says the turnout was outstanding, adding it was probably one of the busiest events she's ever seen.

"It was absolutely amazing. I don't think I've seen that many people in the Normac rink in years, with the reunited Bison game and the Iron Maidens against the Baker Colony ladies, I just haven't seen that many people in the rink in many years."

Gurke says there were crowds for all events, from the morning's pancake breakfast to the evening's hockey games. She's lost for words when it comes to just how well the event was attended, adding they're now making some bigger plans for the future.

"It's mind blowing. When I was taking pictures yesterday and looking around, to see that many people there...Amazing is just a great word for it. We're planning a little more next year. The Bisons are talking about maybe doing another game, and we're thinking of changing things up to make it bigger and better for next year."

She thanks all those who took part, adding the warm weather may have also helped bolster attendance.
