With the warmer weather comes a return to the baseball diamond for high school teams. MacGregor Mustangs baseball coach Mike Toews.

"We've been working on positional playing, fielding that kind of stuff," says Toews. "We've been doing some indoor pitching, some batting none of it quite equates to the full scenario of being on a diamond and playing positionally.  We've acquired a pitching machine this year, that has been really helpful.  We can have the kids receive 30,40,50 grounders in a practice as opposed to a dozen."

Toews describes what the team can do to improve on their great season last year.

"We made it to the Zone Final last year and we lost in the final to Gladstone," adds Toews. "We only lost one seasonal game last year.  We know we have the skill set.  It's the mental toughness, that mental fortitude that we need to play like we're going to win.  Not let errors prevent us from making good calls and improving."

Toews  hopes they can get outside soon and start the real practising to get ready for the season ahead.
