The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba (IIU) is investigating a single motor vehicle collision in Long Plain First Nation. 

A report was submitted to the IIU after Manitoba First Nations Police Service responded to an incident that took place at 1 p.m. this past Saturday (June 10) after police conducted a traffic stop to investigate a possible impaired driver. The driver exited the vehicle, and a man jumped into the driver’s seat, drove off, and eventually rolled the vehicle in a ditch. He sustained injuries to his lower body and was airlifted by STARS air ambulance to Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg for treatment.
