The Vintage Cruisers Car Club in Portage la Prairie has already held a get-together this year, as vintage cars are coming out of storage. Club member Rusty Rutherford says the current club's morphed from other clubs stretching back to the 60s. He notes it's changed names a few times.

"We have approximately 40 members and growing," says Rutherford. "We have a wide variety of cars in the club. There are so many, it's hard to describe them all. I, myself, am driving a 1967 Mustang. I'm just going to pick that up today. It's blue with a black top."

Rutherford explains the club promotes vintage vehicles, car safety and awareness of cars. He says they invite you to come and see that everything wasn't push-button years ago. Rutherford adds electronics didn't exist then as they do now. Although he loves his electronics, he says he has a great love for vintage vehicles.

He adds members would love to explain their vehicles to visitors. If you want to become a member, you can contact any given Vintage Cruisers member, and attend one of the meetings which are held the second Tuesday of every month. He says they take a break in the summer. Car shows always have members there to speak to, as well.
