Lighthouse Christian Academy is a homeschool curriculum system that will still be offering online school services during COVID-19 restrictions.

Lighthouse Christian School, a private school located in Southport, also provides families with the opportunity to homeschool.

Accelerated Christian Education Canada manager, and school administrator, Alfred MacLaren talks about the change.

“It works the same in a homeschool setting as well in a school session. During this time, Lighthouse Christian School students can just continue to do work at home. All of our home staff is on standby by Skype, phone call, etc., to interact with the students at home.”

All of their material is personalized to the student and is self-instructional.

“As far as our school work, there’s not much of a difference for the students. They’re going to be able to maintain their workload. They’re going to be able to complete their work on time, and be able to graduate.”

This year they have 50 students enrolled. During COVID-19, they have seen a spike in families inquiring about the school.

MacLaren talks about the plan with graduating students.

“We are just looking ahead and hoping that by June this situation will be settled down enough that we can host our graduations. If not, we will plan graduation later on in the summer, or at the beginning of the school year.”
