A recent Stats Can report says the number of tourists coming to Manitoba from the United States has reached a record low.  The report says around 18,000 Americans visited Manitoba in May of this year, the lowest number in 14 years.  Portage Chamber of Commerce President Shawn Cabak notes there are some key factors impacting the amount of tourists from the states, including the price of gas and the relatively high Canadian dollar.
He isn't concerned with the statistics yet, although if this trend continues he says it may be cause for concern.
