The Manitoba Legislative Assembly is set to reconvene on Wednesday.

The legislature was initially adjourned on March 19th because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, the Manitoba government felt it prudent to slowly reopen its operations alongside the rest of the province.

“As Manitoba gradually begins to reopen next week, our government will do the same to resume the second session of the province’s 42nd legislature,” Government House Leader Kelvin Goertzen announced Friday afternoon. “Physical distancing measures will be in place in the legislative chamber, and all members of the legislative assembly will be required to comply with all relevant public health directives in place at that time.”

The province plans on holding one sitting day per week throughout the month of May and meetings will proceed as normally scheduled. Until otherwise directed, all assemblies will have reduced attendance to comply with provincial health requirements.
