The Gladstone Lakers and Pilot Mound Pilots may have only been one point apart the entire Tiger Hills Hockey League season, but it wasn't close in game one of their opening best-of-five series.

The Lakers had two goals each from Jordan Geddes and Jesse Paradis and defeated the Pilots in Gladstone 7-0 to take a 1-0 series lead.

The first period saw neither team find the back of the net, but the Lakers could not be stopped in the second. Geddes would score just over three minutes into the period (assisted by Jesse Toth and Cody Danylchuk) and then again six minutes after that (once again, assisted by Jesse Toth and Cody Danylchuk). The Lakers would get goals from Tyler Morwick and Sean Kubas with under two minutes to go, and would enter the final frame up 4-0.

It would be much of the same with Cory Yeroschak scoring in the first five minutes. Jesse Paradis would get both of his goals shortly after, making the game a 7-0 rout. Jesse Toth assisted both of Paradis' goals as well, and would end the night with five assists.

Matt Kohlman went the distance to earn the shutout, while Keagan Blehm took the loss for Pilot Mound.

They will play game two in Pilot Mound on Friday.
