An LVS Teacher Parade is coming our way next week. The date has been changed due to rain on the scheduled date.

"Any staff that are interested in joining, or are free and available, are going to be getting together at the school," says Grade 6 teacher, Jennifer Ethans. "We're going to have cars decorated. Some people are going to be in costumes, some people are on bikes, and other people said they are going to just walk and maybe bring their dogs along."

She notes it'll see staff drive up and down the streets in the neighbourhood close to La Verendrye School and honking and waving to the families, hoping to see their students that they miss during this time of school closure. Ethans says it's taking place on Tuesday, May 19th.

"From around 1:30 til 2:30 p.m. in the afternoon," continues Ethans. "So, we're going to try to keep it to that hour. It might be a little longer; might be a little shorter. We're going to kind of play it by ear and see how many come out and just wave at us from their front lawns and keep that social distancing while still being able to see everybody's faces, and maybe make some people smile."

Ethans adds that this emotional support is an important thing at this time. So, showing their faces and seeing everyone will bring that extra happiness and help keep the connection alive, seeing as they cannot do that in the school for the time being.
