October 26th will see at least three new faces in the RM of Portage Council chamber.

Reeve Jim Knight won't seek re-election on October 25th.

He's served 35 years on Council, and has been reeve since 1985. Knight says at 72 years of age, it's the right time to step aside.

He advises anyone considering joining Council to take things as they come, because there's a lot happening. Knight believes working cooperatively and doing the best job possible will end with good results.
Knight is proud of Council's accomplishments over the years, such as the industrial park, Emergency 911, and bringing Simplot to the area. He adds it was still a hard decision to make, because there are jobs that remain unfinished, such as the regional water system.
Councillor Toby Trimble's announced his intention to run for reeve. Councillor Harold Brown is retiring. Councillor Terry Martin passed away earlier this year.
