Mental Health Awareness Week begins tomorrow, and the goal is to empower individuals and destigmatize mental health.

Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority Mental Health Clinical Specialist Jill Hodgson-McConnell says they're inviting residents to connect with them.

"As we know, we all have mental health," says Hodgson-McConnell. "Mental health impacts every single one of us in all different ways. We all are faced with challenging situations that can negatively impact our mental health and our everyday life. This is truly a common human experience."

She says they also want people to know they don't have to leave their home to seek information.

"We here at the Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority and the Mental Health Program have created this, shall I say, pretty amazing website that is robust with information and resources for individuals across all ages and stages of life."

The website is here www.ierha.ca. You click on "Care in your Community" followed by "Mental Health".

She says the resources on the site have been vetted by whose who have been involved in mental health services as well as qualified mental health specialists in our region.
