On January 25, at about 7:00 a.m., Stonewall RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 6 in the RM of Woodlands. A vehicle driving south on Highway 6 went into the oncoming lane and collided with a semi-truck going north. The driver of the vehicle a 29-year-old man, and his son aged 1, were both pronounced deceased at the scene. 

The driver of the semi, a 74-year-old man, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Icy conditions are believed to be a factor in the collision. 

Stonewall RCMP along with a traffic reconstructionist, continue to investigate.

Stonewall RCMP are currently (Thursday, January 25, 8:00 a.m.) at the scene of a serious motor vehicle collision on Highway 6 in the RM of Woodlands.

The highway is closed in both directions from Road 323 to Road 411 and alternate routes will need to be used. A detour is in effect.

There are reports of fatalities but that is unconfirmed. Stay posted for updated information.
