The Municipality of West-Interlake held their Council meeting recently, and took measures to move ahead with improvements for spring.

Reeve Randy Helgason says, "We put forth some applications for our waste disposal grounds for improvements there, and also with our lagoons. And things are hopefully going to move forward in the spring with that."

Helgason adds they dealt with some utility issues as well.

"And we're also doing a rate study on our water and sewer system."

He adds Council's concerned something needs done about potential flooding in the future.

"Well, one thing we have to keep onto, whichever government comes out of the April 19th election, is the additional outlet to Lake Manitoba to Lake St. Martin. If we get another 2011 or 2014 situation with the Portage Diversion, we can't handle another flood to the extent of what we went through then."
