Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Plains is gearing up for a big 50th-anniversary celebration in 2024. Executive Director, Dawn Froese, shared exciting plans.

"We have so much stuff planned for the year." Froese explained, "Right now, we are collecting stories. So, if anyone has been a mentor or have been a mentee and wants to share their stories with us, we would love to hear them. We're also going to have a special 50 donors project for our anniversary. We're trying to get 50 new donors, so if someone wants to donate, contact me. We're also looking for five Big Brothers, specifically. We have several boys who are looking to have a male mentor."

The organization is actively engaging with the community through speaking engagements and video presentations at different businesses and local groups, in hopes of explaining their mission to those who don't yet know. Events like a Super Bowl Party with Boston Pizza and a "Sip, Support, Survive" Fundraiser are also on the agenda.

Froese emphasized the focus for 2024.

"For 2024, our main goal is to serve more children and attract Big Brothers and Big Sisters volunteers who would be willing to spend some time with a child, and seeing how we can get that message out even more. Then the other part that comes with that is always having the funds so that we can, not just sustain ourselves, but flourish."
