Portage Terrier Reilly Funk's strong play as of late has been rewarded. He has been named the Recycle Everywhere MJHL Player of the Week.

Funk is a local from right here in Portage la Prairie. This is his first full season with the Terriers, he split his time between the Dogs and the Central Plains Capitals Midget AAA team last year.

With four goals in his last three games, six points in three games altogether and a top ten slot in the league scoring race (7G,9A,16Pts.), the eighteen-year-old Funk is establishing himself as a valuable weapon in the Terrier's arsenal.

"It was good for us," says Funk. "I finally got clicking with my linemates, Billaney and Wiesblatt. We started getting some things going like the forecheck. We finally started putting the puck in the net and that's always a good feeling."

Funk says his teammates found out about the announcement before he did.

"I found out from the boys at the workout," laughs Funk. "They let me know pretty quickly about it. I didn't know before that so it was pretty cool."

The Portage Terriers are currently ranked 12th in the Canadian Junior Hockey League Top 20 Rankings.
