It was a successful trip this weekend for Central Plains Sea Lions Aquatic Swim Club in Winnipeg, and the junior provincial championships.

They brought home four medals, including two gold.

Jared Vachon brought home three medals, including gold in the 400 metre freestyle, silver in the 200 metre individual medley, and bronze in the 100 metre breaststroke. It's his third time at the provincials, and describes it as exciting.

"Finally getting a gold, after two provincials, only getting silver and bronze."

Vachon's qualified for the Man-Sask competition, and talks about its significance.

"It means that I get to go there for a second time, and try to prove myself better than I did last time. And also represent the Central Plains Sea Lions."

Chase Yanke was another gold medal winner, in the 100 metre breaststroke. He talks about the moments just before the race.

"I was just singing the lyrics of Jump by Van Halen, and then I just jumped in and got first."

Yanke qualified for the Man-Sask competition with the victory, and admits there's some nervousness about that.

"But I had a pretty good time to go into it, so I'm excited."

Tiah Snaith placed 4th in 50 back and 50 free and 7th in 100 freestyle.

Connor McCutcheon achieved his personal best in multiple races.

Brett Vachon achieved his personal best in multiple races and cut over 30 seconds in 200 freestyle.
