Portage Terriers alumnus Cole Johnston is furthering his career on the ice by moving on to the collegiate level.

After finishing his final season of Junior A in the SIJHL with the Dryden Ice Dogs, the goaltender has committed to Anna Marie College, in Division 3 of the NCAA.

Johnston played 10 regular-season games with the Ice Dogs this year, with a record of 4-4-2, however, he really made his mark in the postseason.

Through eight playoff games, Johnston went 5-2-1 with a goals-against-average of 2.40 and a save percentage of 0.923. These numbers are significant upgrades from his regular-season statistics, where he posted a GAA of 3.75 and an SV% of 0.895.

From 2019 to 2021, Johnston played in 15 games for the Terriers. He went 10-5-0 and picked up a shutout in the Dogs’ uniform.
