Reaching Home, a subdivision of the Portage la Prairie Community Revitalization Corporation (PCRC), is having major success in it's Flocking Flamingos Fundraiser.

PCRC has had lots of interest from many people in our community.

The community facilitator Rachel Templeton is excited as the fundraiser has been successful thus far.

"We've just only been about two, maybe three weeks into it and I believe we've had at least ten bookings and a few completed flockings," Adds Templeton. "I've even seen some at Southport and some of the businesses."

This program has many options. You can pay to get it removed, flock to someone's yard, as well as purchasing flocking insurance that is available. However, there is not a flat price rate as the further that the PCRC travels out of Portage, the price is higher as the PCRC does all of the setup for you.

Templeton also states that they plan to do this program all summer long, even longer if people are still interested after that.

The Reaching Home program is important because it helps those who are in need and may be dealing with homelessness.

Templeton goes on to tell us that the PCRC is a resource to help those in need.

"Contact one of the fine ladies from our Reaching Home program if you know of anyone who is struggling with some couch surfing or having a hard time finding a place to stay."
