June and July are the most common months of the year for severe thunderstorms in our area but it's certainly not uncommon to see them in May and August as well. Last night, the first severe thunderstorm warning this year was issued by Environment Canada as storms rolled through the region between 5:30 and 7:30.

The wind wasn't a big factor but hail was reported in many areas including Gainsborough and MacGregor. In some spots, the bulk of the rain fell in a short time frame so some areas saw some minor flash flooding.
