Delivery of Austin's new fire truck has been delayed.

Fire Chief Gerry Currie says the truck they were supposed to receive on July 21st is expected to come in by the end of this week, or early next week.

Currie explains the new truck has a number of upgrades such as a larger tank and pump, with a compressed air foam system.

The new truck has a computer system that took longer to program than expected adding to the delay.

Currie explains the old truck did not have a compressed air foam system and as with any new equipment the fire fighters will need some training.
