Today is the final day to support Sunset Palliative Care's rainbow auction.

Coordinator Aldene Moroz explains the rainbow auction is part of their annual barbecue and auction fundraiser. This year, she says the funds raised will go toward a new palliative care room at the Portage District General Hospital.

"As many people know, we did one a couple of years ago. We actually did two and the demand for them has been very great," says Moroz.

Moroz says while their numbers were down for the barbecue, people have really come out to support the rainbow auction. She notes they have received some lovely donations of prizes from business in the community.

"The highlights this year are definitely the John Deere gator from Enns Brothers, we have a Napoleon barbecue from Canadian Tire, we have a Townie bicycle that people are eyeing over," shares Moroz. "We've got 12 great grand prizes and we have 45 other baskets of prizes... So we have an awful lot of good things here."

Moroz adds she'd also like to thank Stride Credit Union and Portage Mutual for kicking off their fundraiser this year with their contribution of cheques $4,000 and $5,000 respectively. She says they are thrilled to receive this kind of support.

The rainbow auction closes at 4:00 p.m. this afternoon so head over to the Portage District General Hospital before then to show you support for Sunset Palliative Care.
