On April 29 at approximately 1:30 p.m., Manitoba First Nations Police officers received a call from Long Plain security who were at a checkpoint on Highway 305. They reported a suspicious vehicle with two women in the vehicle who were not residents of Long Plain. After further investigation, officers discovered that both of the women, from Winnipeg, had outstanding warrants. Inspector Dave Scott gives more details.

"The females were initially arrested for their warrants," says Scott. "However, further investigation led police to locate a large quantity of, what is believed to be, methamphetamine and some cash."

Scott describes what they found.

"Police seized 12.77 grams of methamphetamine along with $1,235 in cash," says Scott. "The women from Winnipeg were charged accordingly."

The 31-year-old woman was charged with possession with the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine, possession of property obtained by crime, as well as obstruct to justice. The second woman, 36 years of age, was charged with possession with the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine, possession of property obtained by crime, failing to comply with her undertaking, driving without a license, and unlawful transportation of liquor in a motor vehicle.
