The AAA Female Central Plains Capitals are hitting the road tomorrow as they travel to Minneapolis for a tournament. Coach Ferdi Nellisen says they're looking forward to a weekend filled with team building.

"It's always exciting when you're heading out on a road trip," says Nelissen. "They know they're going to have a lot of work ahead of them. We've got two games Friday, two games Saturday, and then we're actually done. We're planning on doing some team building Saturday night and then do some stuff on Sunday on the way home."

Nelissen says they will be playing teams from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan and Thunder Bay. Nelissen says most teams in the tournament will be American, with Thunder Bay being the only Canadian team they play this weekend.

"It's a lot of U-19, U-16 American teams," says Nelissen. "There are different divisions and it's a large event. We're in a U-19 category, we're actually a U-18 program, but we've played the U-19 programs before and found that we're very competitive. We're actually very excited about that and we like our draw."

They're just coming off a weekend where they split. Nelissen says they haven't won a lot of games yet, but they've had a lot of close ones losing by one point.

Chloe Snaith is one of the players on the Caps and has just recently been awarded player of the week. On top of that, she's been offered a scholarship with the University of Manitoba to play hockey and go to school. More on that story tomorrow.

Coming up next week, Wednesday the 25th, the Female Caps have their season home opener at the BDO Centre, where they'll be wearing their cancer care uniforms in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
