Over 1400 people will be in Portage next week for the Canada Senior Games, which start Wednesday.

A number of venues have been provided by the City of Portage, and the Manager of Community Development acted as liaison with the Games Committee.

Jennifer Sarna believes hosting the Games will have a positive long-term effect for Portage. She says the city's image as a host at the provincial and national will be enhanced.
Sarna points out there's an immediate benefit as well, with the excitement that's building and increased local business as a result.

The City's partnering with the province to conduct an economic impact study. Sarna notes it'll mean the City has a clear idea of the Games' success.
