UPDATE AT 3:30 P.M.
Portage fire crews have confirmed to PortageOnline that an Internet company was digging and nicked a gas line. Centra Gas was quick on the scene and was able to pinch off the line and dealt with the issue. The Portage firefighters left the scene at approximately 2 p.m.

Portage la Prairie RCMP has told PortageOnline that a potential gas leak has been detected on the RM north service road on the west side of Portage. A trailer was on the side of the road when we arrived. Emergency crews were already on scene.
The service road was blocked off from allowing traffic to drive on the service road until Drive Inn Road.
PortageOnline will report additional information as it becomes available.
