Edgar Lee Hobson January 1, 1964 – June 13, 2024

Edgar Lee Hobson, affectionately known as "Big Ed", was born at midnight on January 1, 1964, to Joyce Olson (nee Merrick) and John Hobson in Swan Lake First Nation. On the morning of Thursday, June 13, 2024, at the age of 60, Ed passed away at his home in Long Plain First Nation.

Big Ed was a well-known member of the Long Plain community, known for his big heart, kindness, and generosity. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, often working on vehicles in his backyard for friends and neighbours. As a good host he made sure his guests had plenty to eat. Ed found joy in hunting and fishing, activities he loved sharing with his sons and family. His grandchildren and children fondly remember him for always having candy and treats on hand and for his love of barbecuing, a passion he indulged in all year round. Big Ed was a skilled builder, constructing houses in the community with his sons and grandson. His greatest joy was being with his family, sharing stories, and taking pride in his grandchildren.

Ed was predeceased by his father, John Hobson (1991); maternal grandparents Flora and Angus Merrick; paternal grandmother Flora Assiniboine; brothers, Kim Hobson (1982), Doug Hobson (1982), and Glenn Hobson (1996); sister, Lois Hobson (2009); son, Joseph Beaulieu (2014); and grandchildren, Liberty Hobson (2011), Angus Hobson (2023), Dorian Myerion (2024), and special nephew Dale Myerion (2024).

Big Ed leaves to mourn his mother, Joyce Olson; sisters, Nancy (Bill) Greenwalt, Susan (Nick) Dupuis and Barb (Mervin) Esau; brother, Bryan (Evan) Hobson; former spouse Karen Beaulieu and their children, Patricia (Ricky), Benjamin (Courtney), Nicholas (Michelle), and Chelsey (Denny); former partner, Hazel French and their children, Serena, Jasmine, and Bradley; partner, Loretta Myerion and their children, Kaitlyn Myerion and step-son, Irvin Daniels; numerous grandchildren; great-granddaughter, Brayleigh; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
