The massive day of giving to support Portage la Prairie's Salvation Army is finally here!

The Mil Jeanne Flowers and Axcenz drive-thru Jingle Bell Breakfast will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. today, Friday, December 2nd, at 2390 Sissons Drive.

Major Brenda Hammond says the whole idea of the day is to collect enough non-perishable food items, toys and cash to support the needs of others throughout the Christmas season.

"We're loading a truck from Dunn Chrysler and moving it all with a transport truck from Paraclete Transport. We want it to be as full as we can get it with canned goods and toys."

Hammond says, with the need for the Salvation Army being up this year, she hopes the people of Portage will come and support each other, as they always do.

"The jingle bell drive-thru is a great example of a community coming together. The need is great, especially this year. It's beautiful to be in a community that pulls together people they don't even know and will never ever meet. Very powerful."

Golden West and the Salvation Army would like to extend a massive shoutout to the event's sponsors, which you will find here.
