The Portage Terriers were back on home ice and made sure their fans went home happy last night.

The Portage Terriers made an emphatic return to the win column last night.

The Dogs returned to the PCU Centre to battle the Winkler Flyers, a team featuring former Terrier Justin Minoletti in his Winkler debut. The home team found the net midway through the first when Tyler Moore knocked his 17th of the season past Reed Peters.

It stayed 1-0 until the 8:02 mark of the second when Andrew Wiebe was awarded a penalty shot. The Thunder Bay product made no mistake, beating Peters five-hole for his 9th of the year.

Just 24 hours after surrendering a two goal lead in the third period, the Terriers made sure not to repeat themselves, coming out flying in the third. At the 7:01 mark, Brent Wold pushed the lead to 3-0 with his 13th, followed 35 seconds later by Stephane Pattyn's 14th, giving the Terriers the 4-0 advantage.

That was more than enough for Kirk Croswell. The Portage netminder turned aside all 30 shots that came his way for his second shutout of the season. Afterward, the Nanaimo, BC native talked about the goose egg.

For Brent Wold, it was another great night on the scoresheet. The 17-year-old rookie has goals in four straight and has scored seven times in the last ten games.

Wold talks about his recent hot streak.

Wiebe's penalty shot goal was definitely a highlight in the team's victory. The 19-year-old forward says it's a rare occurrence for him.

With the win, the Terriers improve to 28-11-6, good for 62 points and first place in the Sher-Wood Division, eight points up on the second place Dauphin Kings.

Next up for the Terriers is a meeting with OCN this Saturday at the PCU Centre. Puck drop is at 7:30 pm.
