It was a successful weekend for the Direct Farm Marketing Conference held at Canad Inns in Portage la Prairie. Prairie Fruit Growers executive director Waldo Thiessen says the event is great for local producers because it gives them an opportunity to see what other farmers around the province are doing.

"The conference brings a lot of people together. We have producers with grass fed beef here, we have people who are growing vegetables, people who grow strawberries, raspberries, and fruits of all kinds. We have producers here who sell at the farmers markets and producers who sell directly off their yard. We just talk about things that we have in common and everyone gets a chance to share their ideas."

The conference began on Friday and wrapped up yesterday, AND Thiessen adds it featured around 20 sessions and a few presentations on the different areas of farming.
