Portage firefighters are providing details regarding an accident late Monday afternoon east of Portage la Prairie involving a semi and a farm tractor.
According to the fire department, the accident took place around 4:30 p.m. near Burbank Express, and the occupants of both vehicles were transported to a Winnipeg hospital.
Reports note that the individual operating the tractor sustained severe injuries that are considered life-threatening.

The short stretch of highway reopened shortly after 11 p.m. on Monday.
