Departure from the covering of third party management has been a goal for Dakota Tipi First Nation for several years now.

Chief Keith Pashe has been working to accomplish that, and discussed the issue with Indigenous Services Canada (ISC), formerly known as Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC).

ISC released this statement Friday in reference to that effort:

"The department is working with all First Nations in third party management, including Dakota Tipi, to help them move to a lower level of intervention and to find long-term solutions. We support and will continue to support First Nations through capacity development and community building initiatives."

Pashe adds he's currently in arrangements with ISC to complete this process.
