The City of Portage la Prairie enjoyed the 8th annual Culture Days over the weekend. Many local artists, musicians and citizens took part in many events and activities.

Promotions and Program coordinator the Portage Regional Library, Lori Mackedenski reflects on the turnout of their event, where people made crafts such as bookmarks and a circuitry craft called "Eyes in the Bushes".

"Yvette Cuthbert worked really hard to generate interest, we've had a pretty good turnout. People really enjoyed it and said it's kind of neat seeing different groups out displaying their cultural aspects of their groups," said Mackedenski.

Mother and daughter Catherine and Lydia Archambeault were also taking part in crafts during Culture Days. Lydia said she enjoyed making crafts.

"I like doing crafts here, 'cause I'm really crafty and I like to do crafts everyday," says Archambeault. Lydia's mother said they always like to take part in these types of family events. and says it's a great opportunity to get out and see what's available here in Portage.

Some other highlights of the event were musician Johnny Dietrich performing, POW dancers, human book stories with local artists and professionals, as well as a Post Card Project, aiming to break down stereotypes around Portage la Prairie put on by the Portage la Prairie Community Revitalization Corporation.
