If you're part of a group or organization with a project ready to go in Portage la Prairie, and need some funding, the Federated Co-op Community Places Program out of Saskatoon might be the route to go.

Portage Co-op's Tammy Hammersley says they have up to 1.5 million dollars to fund community projects across western Canada.

"It's going toward organizations that are a registered non-profit, a registered charity, or a community service group of some sort. And it's to help beautify and improve community spaces. Things like parks, playgrounds, facilities, that kind of thing."

Hammersley stresses it's for projects already in motion.

"It has to be a project of good magnitude. The minimum that they're giving is $25,000, so it has to be a project that you have an estimate on, or something, that will show them that you're looking for at least $25,000."

She urges anyone in the area who's interested to apply.

"It's super important if you're looking for funding for a large project, then certainly, get online, and look at this application, and get it submitted."

The application deadline's February 12, and you can submit online. Here's the link.
