The Portage Terriers are proud to announce the commitment of graduating forward Logan Christensen to the University of Windsor (USports).

“I’ve never been out to see that part of the country, so I thought that would be a good opportunity,” says Christensen, who is hoping to study kinesiology. “They have a great school and a great program. I felt it would be a great place to go and further my education and play hockey.”

“I talked to the coach. He said he liked me when he watched me play. He isn’t sure if he is going to play me on the wing or at centre, so I’m not sure where I’ll play [in the lineup] but I’m excited,” explains Christensen.

Earlier this week, Terrier goaltender Noah Giesbrecht also committed to the same school. Christensen says it played a factor. “Geez [Noah Giesbrecht] had told me he was going to go there so it helped my decision.”

A WHL veteran, the Lundar, Man., product played parts of four seasons with the Saskatoon Blades and part of last season with the Medicine Hat Tigers. The reliable, two-way forward was acquired in the offseason by the Terriers to bring a wealth of experience for a team that had national championship aspirations.

He battled the injury bug after Christmas but was still able to put up 33 points in 42 games and one in the playoffs.

Christensen was happy with his time in Portage.

“It was great. It was a good place with great billets. It was tough that our season had to come to an end when it did.”
