The Central Plains Capitals beat the Yellowhead Chiefs 4-2 in Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League playoff action in Shoal Lake.

The Capitals scored the game and with the only goal in the 1st period, coming from Reilly Funk to give the Caps a 1-0 lead heading into the 2nd.

In the 2nd, Caps' forward Drew Anderson added another goal just 28 seconds in to take a 2-0 lead. Yellowhead was able to answer back, scoring less than 3 minutes later to cut the lead in half. The Chiefs tied the game up late in the period on the powerplay to send it into the 3rd period 2-2.

In the final frame, the game stayed tied at 2 until Tyler Van Deynze scored with 5 minutes left to give the Caps a 3-2 lead, and with 32 seconds remaining in the game, Drew Anderson scored his 2nd of the night on an empty net goal to seal the win for the Caps.

Capitals' Head Coach Ken Brooks comments on the Game 3 victory.

"It was a tight game. We built up a 2 goal lead, but we let them back into it and they tied it up. We were able to score late in the game to go ahead and then we got the empty netter, but overall we were pretty good on the forecheck. There was a lot of special teams play going on and our penalty kill was pretty good today."

The Capitals now lead the best-of-5 series 2-1, with game 4 on Thursday in Portage.
