The second Centennial Cup volunteer drive took place last night at Stride Place.

They were looking for volunteers in the community who could help out in a number of different areas such as security, admission, transportation, among many other things. Volunteer coordinator Chris Tornato outlines how the evening went.

"We had a little bit of a slower turnout just because of the cold weather," says Tornato. "We did get some more numbers but we still have another 75 more to go. We expect to have another volunteer drive in another month."

The Centennial Cup is Junior A hockey's biggest tournament and brings all the best teams to one place, therefore, they will need a lot of help to make sure everything runs smoothly.

Tornato says people came in ready to register.

"The people that came in were eager to sign up and paid for their registration right away," says Tornato. "The most popular package was the $90 standing room only."

There were three types of packages that each offer different perks and the $90 package offers the ability to view all games but with no reserved seating.

He says they are hoping to get 330 total volunteers. So, if you're still looking to sign up it's not too late, you can contact Tornato by calling 204-803-9881.
