The riding of Midland will not have to worry about a change in representation after Blaine Pedersen of the Progressive Conservatives was re-elected for the third time on September 10th

Like many other regions in the Pembina Valley who have seen their MLA re-elected, residents and local governments hope this means projects that were in the works will continue to progress. This includes higher investments in water and wastewater projects.

Mayor Brent Owen and Reeve George Gray (L-R)"It's been an on-going project to try and provide more water for the RM of Dufferin, the Town of Carman, and the surrounding area, including the irrigators. We're working on a project from the Assiniboine," says Dufferin Reeve George Gray.

He says water is essential to keep up with growth as more and more people make their home in Southern Manitoba.

"It's the most important component in life... not only for the simple things in life but the growth potential for industry, housing and all sorts of things. We have to have more water."

He adds, "A lot of good things are happening and the government certainly has been very supportive of the stuff we're doing, and it's nice to see that sort of continuity."

Carman Mayor Brent Owen also looks forward to continuing their relationship and seeing Manitoba continue to get "back on track," and having a local like Pedersen helps to "better the needs of our community."

Owen adds that the Personal Care Home project is also important to area residents, and hopes to see the continued support on a provincial level.
