After having to cancel their 2020 awards gala, the Carman Area Foundation (CAF) went digital with a 20-minute video highlighting the recipients of this year’s grants.

“We were very disappointed to have to cancel the event but of course it was necessary given the current circumstances. We’re delighted to still be able to provide our grants to these organizations, many of which may be impacted by the health crisis, so we hope the grants give them a needed boost,” says Director and Event Chairperson, Jo-Ann Tkachyk.

They had $90,455 available along with $4,500 from the Carman Collegiate Youth in Philanthropy program, and an additional $20,000 from the Manitoba Build 150 Program, making a total of $144,955 put back in the community.

“The Foundation has had remarkable growth the last few years and the Board is thrilled to be able to keep increasing the level of support we provide to local organizations. What a testament to everyone who has ever supported the Foundation,” says Board Chair Barry Gosnell.

He says they were able to select 15 additional applications due to the Build 150 funding. This means 47 different local and regional initiatives received support from the CAF this year.

“As a regional Foundation, we wanted to make sure the extra funding was available to all the communities we serve,” Gosnell adds.
