A three-goal second period was the difference, as Central Plains Capitals fell 4-3 to Winnipeg Bruins in the Manitoba U18 AA Hockey League last night.

The game was in Winnipeg, and the first period saw the teams trade goals, leaving the match tied at the intermission. Cameron Trimble tallied for the Caps.

In the second, the Caps took the lead, thanks to Ryan Botterill. Then the flood gates opened, as the Bruins responded with a trio of markers, taking a 4-2 lead.

Drake Sheppard made it 4-3 at 15:08 of the third, but that was as close as Central Plains got.

Ciaran McVicker faced 33 shots in goal.

The Caps return to the BDO Centre this afternoon, as they host Southwest Cougars. Game time's 1:15.
