In Manitoba Female Midget Hockey League action tonight the Central Plains Capitals skated to a 5-2 victory over the struggling Interlake Lightning.

The Capitals were paced by a pair of goals from Megan Ferg who is second in overall league scoring.  Isabell Reutter would pick up the win in goal.

The win puts the Capitals three points back of the Eastman Selects whom the Caps play tomorrow.  With today's victory, the Caps move within striking distance of multiple teams and can jump up in the standings by stringing a few wins together.

Capitals Assistant Coach John Ferg had this to say about how his team played tonight.

"Offence towards the net, we had all three lines working well and had things that we implemented in practice this week like backcheck and system work. So overall we had a good team effort."

The Caps won't get much time to rest as they will go on the road to face the Eastman Selects tomorrow night.  Puck drop is at 6:10 p.m. in St. Anne.
