Portage la Prairie's Canada Day celebration is ready to go.

It'll centre on Island Park, and Manager of Community Development Jennifer Sarna assures there's something for everyone. That includes continuous entertainment, with a definite local flavour, including aboriginal dancers, children's entertainers, fiddlers, and Juno Award winner Al Simmons.

Today's celebrations begin with a pancake breakfast at 9 o'clock, followed by opening ceremonies at 10:30.

Fireworks cap the day around 10:30 PM. Sarna recommends arriving early, and cautions there'll be traffic restrictions on the Island Park bridge as well as Crescent Road.
